Rockstar Games has published no vehicle list for Grand Theft Auto VI, no count and no model catalogue. What the studio did have described, in detail, is how vehicles work, and that is considerably more useful than an imaginary garage.
This page previously listed named models, with their real-world inspirations, under a "confirmed models" heading, and cited two aggregators as sources. Those lines are gone, and what replaces them is sourced line by line.

Is stealing a car enough to own it?
No, and it is the most important change in the whole system. According to the gameplay presentation held at Rockstar Games' offices in late August 2026, relayed by the French press in attendance, a stolen vehicle has to be registered for a fee to become a personal vehicle, the one you find again in your garage.
An unregistered car stays a stolen car. Fences can recognise a wanted vehicle, and report it rather than buy it.
The detail of this system, what registration costs, what an unregistered car risks and why it is new to the series, is covered on our stolen car registration page.
What is the Waink app for?
It is the central tool of vehicle theft, on each protagonist's phone. For a given car it shows three things: the tool needed to break in, its resale price, and the cost of registering it.
That third figure changes the nature of the act. Before, stealing a car was an instant decision: it is there, you take it. Here the same car asks three questions whose answers do not point the same way. A sports car can be worth a lot on resale and cost more to register than it is worth to drive.
In other words, Waink lets you decide, before you even break a lock, whether the vehicle is worth stealing, selling or keeping.
Do all cars steal the same way?
No. Theft difficulty varies from model to model, with dedicated mini-games. The reports mention electronic locks, key duplicators and GPS trackers, and specify that some parked cars need tools to open.
For a robbery crew the getaway car therefore becomes a decision in itself: the fastest model is not necessarily the one you can open in the time you have.
Do you have to refuel in GTA 6?
Yes. Vehicles need fuel, and electric vehicles need charging. It is a first for the series, and it gives driving a running cost it did not have.
On a motorcycle the helmet is optional. The studio has not said whether it changes the damage you take, or whether it feeds the description the police work from, which is built partly from clothing and accessories.
These constraints throw light on another design choice: the game ships a generous fast travel, through bus stops and the RideMe app, covered on our page about fast travel.
Which vehicle races are confirmed?
Three formats, described with their field sizes. These are the only numbers on this page, and they concern participants, not content.
- Circuit races: sixteen participants, two laps.
- Off-road races: twelve participants, on bikes and quads.
- Night street races: six participants.
No number of tracks, no list of them and no vehicle category per format has been published.
What this page used to assert
It named specific models, tying them to real cars, under a "confirmed models" heading. It also listed "extensive customisation expected" among "confirmed features", which is a contradiction in terms, and described fully interactive interiors at a level of detail Rockstar Games has never specified.
Identifying a car silhouette in a trailer shot is interpretation, not confirmation. A game vehicle is a model inspired by a real one, renamed within the fiction, and the series has always worked that way. Naming the real model it draws on means naming something nobody published.
What Rockstar Games has not published
No vehicle count, no model list, no official category, no purchase price, and no information about customisation or garages. We do not know how many personal vehicles you can own, or whether registration can be lost.
Everything described above comes from a demonstration shown to journalists, not from a studio release. The rest on 19 November 2026.
